Join Centre Moves in April for the fourth annual Centre Moves Fit Families Challenge! The community coalition dedicated to encouraging healthy habits in Centre County is once again hosting this monthlong, countywide health initiative to get people moving.
To participate, families – parents, grandparents, children, colleagues or friends – should register at centremoves.org, exercise at least 15 times between April 1 -30, and log workouts to be entered to win a variety of prizes. Grand prize items, generously donated by area businesses, include a one-year Centre County YMCA family membership; $600 in vouchers to The Bicycle Shop for a child’s bike, courtesy of CentreBike and Mount Nittany Health; 20-person luxury suite for a State College Spikes home game; two chances to win a nutrition consultation with a One on One Fitness registered dietitian; three 10-class passes to Tri-Yoga of Central Pennsylvania; two fitness kits from the State College Borough Community Engagement Office; two one-day pool passes from Centre Region Parks and Recreation; and more! Plus, those registered for Fit Families Challenge can sign up for a Centre County YMCA “Be Our Guest” pass for the month of April. You can learn more at centremoves.org.
There’s no time or activity requirement for workouts, and exercise can be tracked online at centremoves.org. Tracking forms are also available at all Centre County YMCA branches, Mount Nittany Health Fit for Play or printed at centremoves.org. Completed paper forms can be turned in at any Centre County YMCA location or Fit for Play, or scanned/photographed and emailed to email@example.com. Deadline for form submission, in order to be eligible for prizes, is May 5.
Mount Nittany Health is a proud partner of the Centre Moves Fit Families Challenge. Chronic disease, including heart disease and diabetes, was identified as a key priority in the most recent community health needs assessment, conducted by Mount Nittany Health, in partnership with Centre Foundation, Centre County United Way, and Centre County Partnership for Community Health. Because heart disease is impacted by high blood pressure and high cholesterol, which can result from poor diet and exercise habits, healthy weight management is key in improving the health and wellness of our community and Mount Nittany Health’s mission to make people healthier.
Registration for the challenge is now open at centremoves.org. For more information, call 814.231.7140 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
